Official Statement from the IIS Society on IQ Test Reliability

The IIS Society, in its pursuit of scientific rigor and the integrity of its members, reaffirms the importance of supervised and standardized IQ tests for the accurate evaluation of intelligence.

Unsupervised IQ tests, such as those found online or on unregulated platforms, as well as quick tests, cannot be considered reliable in determining an individual’s intelligence quotient. The lack of control over testing conditions, the possibility of fraud, and the absence of qualified professional evaluation compromise the validity of the results obtained.

The IIS Society recommends that IQ tests be administered by psychology professionals with expertise in psychometric assessment. These professionals ensure that the test is properly applied in an appropriate environment using standardized materials. Additionally, the interpretation of results should be carried out by a qualified professional, considering the various factors that can influence an individual’s performance.

The Wechsler Scale, for example, is widely recognized as a valid and reliable instrument for evaluating general intelligence and specific cognitive abilities. However, other standardized IQ tests may also be utilized, provided they meet the quality criteria established by the scientific community.

Self-declared IQ, without evidence from properly administered and interpreted tests, is not considered valid by the IIS Society. Intelligence is a complex and multifaceted characteristic that cannot be superficially or subjectively assessed.

In summary, the IIS Society emphasizes the importance of professional and rigorous IQ evaluation. By requiring supervised and standardized testing, the Society seeks to ensure the quality of data and the reliability of information about the intelligence of its members.

This stance aims to preserve the Society's credibility and ensure that its members are indeed individuals with high intellectual potential.
